Summer Essentials

Recently I went to Atlanta (read about it here) and did a little summer shopping. Yes--I know I was technically on a "shopping ban," but I couldn't go to a shopping wonderland and NOT buy a couple of pieces! The shopping ban did last 17 days which was pretty fabulous for me if I do say so myself.

Long story short, the shopping ban was broken but I got some great pieces. Plus, I'm initiating the ban again starting today (that makes it ok, right?).

Onto my purchases. The pictures above are not the exact items/brands I bought, but they are extremely close.

  • I bought two pairs of chinos from Gap in hot pink and white. I'm super excited about these because they are a great fit and a really light material
  • Gap also had some great fitting v-neck t shirts. I bought one in mint (of course) and lavender - a new favorite. With some jewelry, I think these will make cute combos with the chinos.
  • This is NOT the maxi dress I bought, mine actually came from the loft outlet. It's a navy/paisley combo and I love. I'm also loving this old navy maxi dress shown above.
  • I bought a skirt similar to the one shown above from old navy. It was on clearance for $11 and  perfect fit. I couldn't pass it up!
  • Finally, I'm in love with these sandals. The ones pictured above are from target. Mine are very similar, but I bought them from Marshall's for $19.99.
I'm super excited about my summer staples, now I'm ready for some 70 degree weather to wear them!

What summer staples are you loving?

A Pop of Shoe

I've been picturing this black striped top with the bright shoes since it was waaay too cold to wear peep toes. I wanted a black outfit with these shoes so they could be the focus.

I found the shoes for $4 at Rack Room on clearance. Good thing I was patient when I bought them.

The jeans were supposed to be boyfriend jeans, but when I got them they were capris on this 5 foot 8 gal. I had to hold off on wearing them too, since I ordered them in the dead of winter.

Blazer: Old Navy
Top: Gap outlet
Necklace: Forever 21
Earrings: Maurices
Belt: Steve Madden via  TJ Maxx
Pants: Old Navy
Shoes: Rack Room

Can we talk about my ghostly legs for a minute? I look like a freak, the pictures don't do it justice. Unfortunately I can't lay in a tanning bed because I have a high risk of melanoma. Every year my dermatologist tells me not to go to a tanning bed as I'm leaving.

Any alternative suggestions? I like spray tans but they get expensive and don't last long! Advice or a miracle is appreciated, preferably the miracle.

My February Favorite Things

Is it seriously the last day of February? When did November end? For real. I feel like I blink and an entire month is gone.

Anyway, the end of the month is always Ashley from Dancing with Ashley's My Favorite Things link up. An opportunity to post about your favorite things over the past month. I've been considering where I wanted to go with this one and I think I'm gonna head down the fashion road.

I loved valentine's day and blah blah blah but I don't think anybody wants to hear about that anymore. Some people are serious v-day haters anyway.

So....my favorite things this month were a big bunch of clothing/accessory/beauty purchases I made. Is this sad? I don't know, but it's true. So I am going to share my favorite purchases with you.

I love this bright pink top from J. Crew Factory. It is thin and silky. I can't wait to pair it with some mint green shorts this spring!

I have been eyeing boyfriend jeans for a while now. I bought my first pair from Old Navy this month and they worked great. They will also double as capris this spring.

These are self explanatory. Everybody needs a pair of nude heels right? I loved these because the heels weren't too high for certain 5'8" people. Thank you Steve Madden.

I found a similar Ivanka Trump handbag in white at TJ Maxx. It will definitely be my spring bag. I'm ready for a down size to a hand bag.

I couldn't leave this little bottle of miracles out of the mix. After seeing an instagram post from Fran about how great this top coat was, I had to try it. She was right, it shines like glass and is instantly dried.  Definitely a game changer.

I can't finish without telling you what I hope to buy next month (maybe? I don't know, I probably should place a shopping ban, but probably not.)

I love this lace top and mint green button up for J. Crew Factory. Maybe they will be mine in March. Bring on the spring fashion!
